(TR 10:10 - 11:00 am
in GY126) integrate instruction and discussion that:
- Explore
evidence
for contained in rock and fossil records
- Consider critical concepts
and
principles related to Earth history through in-class question/answer
sessions
- Explain geological phenonema and materials aided by
Powerpoint presentations employing numerous images and videos
- Reinforce learning of key points with reflective questions
- Lab
Classes
(W & R 12:20 - 2:15 pm and 2:30 - 4:25 pm; R 4:40 - 6:35 pm in
GY210) that involve:
- Investigation of geological materials to build practical
skills in rock identification, interpretation and
geological problem solving
- A field trip to examine local geology
- Assignments:
- Exams consisting of multiple choice and short answer
questions to assess understanding of critical concepts and principles
- Reflective questions on lecture topics for completion
during and
after class to reinforce key course objectives
- Quizzes (in Oncourse) on lecture topics
for learning enrichment
- Lab write-up to answer practical
challenges in rock identification, and problem-solving in
interpretation of Earth history (Answers and notes collated during lab
classes are submitted via
Oncourse)
- Resources:
- In-class questions focused on critical learning objectives
- Files of lecture slides and images posted as
