About the Gills

Jack M. Gill
Dr. Jack M. Gill
Jack Gill earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry and engineering from Lamar State College of Technology in 1958. After only 4 years, Jack received his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Indiana University in 1963. In 1970, at the age of 33, Jack founded a business called Autolab, which pioneered the application of micro-processor based instruments and computers for chromatography labs. In 1972, Jack sold Autolab to Spectra Physics, a manufacturer of commercial, scientific and industrial lasers. Jack stayed on with Spectra for nine years as an Executive Vice President before founding Vanguard Ventures, a high-tech venture capital firm in Palo Alto, CA. Today, Jack is a general partner of Vanguard Ventures, President of The Gill Foundation, and a research-scientist and lecturer at Harvard Medical School and MIT.


Linda C. Gill
Linda C. Gill Linda Gill is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. She has been a volunteer for 30 years in the academic medical community, including the Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto, Baylor Methodist Hospital in Houston, and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Linda also serves as Director and Vice President of The Gill Foundation. She is on the advisory board of the Gill Heart Center at the University of Kentucky and serves on the board of UK's Capital Campaign.
