University Consortium for Geographic Information Science

Purpose of Consortium

The University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) is a soceity of universities and professional associations whose purpose is to promote the informed and responsible use of geographic information science and geographic analysis. As a member of UCGIS, Indiana University strives to incorporate GIS and Remote Sensing education into multidisciplinary research, including faculty, staff and students on all campuses. This group's primary goal is to provide a space in which ideas and projects concerning GIS can be shared across the IU community. Users gather at pre-defined locations on their local campus and use video-conferencing to link to other campuses.
