What is GIS?

On November 19, 2014, Indiana University will celebrate GIS Day with a host of informational booths and activities to showcase the exciting work that the Indiana community is doing with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Students - come meet GIS professionals from government, academia, and the private sector.  

Come see a "drone" or UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) on campus collecting GIS data.

Training will be provided throughout the day on how to make print quality maps in less than one hour.

The IU School of Public Health will showcase mapping the spread of Ebola

You will find 3D visualizations, earthquake models and interactive maps.

Learn more about Indiana's 2011-14 statewide orthophotography and LiDAR project. Discover the IndianaMap, Indiana's one map for everyone, using a 55 inch touch display table.

Don't miss Jane Hardisty's keynote presentation entitled For Healthy Food and Clean Water – the Secret is in the Soil.
