Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination (GLAAD) -- Media watchdog and advocacy organization.
Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, provides money, advice, training to qualified openly gay and lesbian political candidates.
Human Rights Campaign (HRC)
-- Nation's largest GLB lobbying and advocacy group.  Site features in-depth issue analyses and an excellent action center.
Lambda Legal -- National organization dedicated to impact litigation, education, and public policy work.
National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) -- National organization devoted to lobbying, awareness, and training.  Site (which tends to be slow and sometimes unavailable) includes news, action alerts, publications.
Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (P-FLAG) -- The major organization for families and supporters of lesbians and gays

Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere (COLAGE), supports children of LGBT parents.
Equality Project, devoted exclusively to LGBT shareholder activism
Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network -- "Parents, teachers, students, and concerned citizens creating schools where everyone is respected and valued."
Independent Gay Forum, a moderate to conservative "group of gay writers, academics, attorneys, and activists who feel dissatisfied with the current level of discussion of gay-related issues."
Institute for Gay and Lesbian Strategic Studies -- think tank that uses scholarly research, analysis, and education to inform public policy debates and combat homophobia
International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission
International Lesbian and Gay Association, a worldwide federation of national and local groups. (Includes a world legal survey on laws and status of gays country-by-country.)
International Network of Lesbian and Gay Officials
Interpride, the International Association of LGBT Pride Coordinators
Lambda Letters Project, provides information and sample letters to public officials on key political issues

Republican Unity Coalition, a "grasstops" organization promoting gay inclusion in the GOP
Second Class Action, grassroots organization focused on educating voters about the unfair tax burden placed on LGBT people
Soulforce, founded by Rev. Mel White, supports religious inclusion of gays and lesbians and protests anti-gay actions and policies
Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, the largest Christian ministry to the GLBT communities
We Are Family, "a voice of informed straight, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual, and transgendered people who have chosen to love and support our relatives and friends by working to spread truth about homosexuality. Our focus is on young people because they generally feel so desperately alone."
