Languages — Teaching & Learning

The Center for the Study of Global Change is keenly aware of the role of foreign language training in pursuing an international education and has particular interest in promoting and facilitating the acquisition of less commonly taught languages. The Global Center offers FLAS (Foreign Language & Area Studies) Fellowships to graduate students who are pursing foreign language and international studies instruction as a means of enhancing research that is global in scope. It supports the development and teaching of Language Across the Curriculum (LAC) courses that are content courses and discussion sections that are not language courses per se but rather have a foreign language as the language of instruction. The Global Center also offers workshops for foreign language faculty and teachers on digitizing curricular materials, technology, and language pedagogy.
