Arabic instruction of preschool through grade 2 at Monroe County Public Library, 2008-2009
Arabic
IU-Bloomington's Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures (NELC) mentors IU students in the instruction of Arabic. Faculty and professionals at NELC strive to creatively broaden student awareness of Near Eastern societies and cultures. Business, government, and academia increasingly demand specialists who are skilled in the critical languages of the Middle East and who possess expert knowledge of the region’s culture, politics, and history.
Encouraging IU students of Arabic to share their interests with a broader public, while receiving guided training in Arabic instruction, is just one creative measure NELC has taken toward increasing awareness.
