Lotus Blossoms Children's Bazaar And Community Bazaar

Lotus Blossoms, an educational program of the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation of Bloomington, IN, nurtures children's curiosity about other cultures by bringing artist-educators into southern-Indiana schools from across America and around the world. From a one-day event in 1996, it has evolved into a month full of performances and activities for young students and adults alike. Lotus Blossoms artists visit thousands of students in schools - rural and urban, elementary through high school. In addition, Blossoms includes concerts, free meet-the-artist events, a free Children's Bazaar on a Friday for local grade four classes, and a free Community Bazaar the following day, open to the public. The 2008 Lotus Blossoms outreach program served more than 10,000 young people. Global Center personnel are instrumental in planning and organizing these events, ensuring that there are numerous international educational activities, in addition to the musical performances. The Global Center also mounts a display, which informs teachers and the public about the numerous resources and services offered by the center and its affiliate organizations.
