Electoral and Institutional Database of the World |
|
The Global Center is pleased to support the initial development of the Electoral and Institutional Database of the World, which is a project with scholarly and public impact, as well as curricular potential. The Electoral and Institutional Database of the World contributes to the generation of measures of importance to social scientists, policy-makers, and students and teachers of politics. It includes measures of concepts such as the ideological polarization of national legislatures, the national reach of political parties, and the degree of unity or separation of power among branches of government, from all world areas. It will also incorporate Geographic Information System technology to allow the mapping of many measures where appropriate. With support from the Global Center, project directors Thomas Mustillo, Rudy Banerjee, and Mathew Palakal, all professors at IUPUI, have gathered and made available data on six countries since their most recent transitions to democracy and have developed a Web site for this dissemination of their work.
