William Rasch's teaching and research activities concentrate primarily on the German philosophical tradition, especially in the areas of social and political theory. On the undergraduate level he has most recently taught courses entitled "Nietzsche, Weber, Freud" and "The Idea of Europe." On the graduate level he has most recently taught seminars on German and Anglo-American modernism (with Ed Comentale) and the philosophical discourse of modernity. He has published on (among others) Kant, the German social theorist Niklas Luhmann, and the German political and legal thinker Carl Schmitt.
