Hans Ibold (Ph.D. University of Missouri, 2008) is an assistant professor of journalism. His writing and teaching focus on new media, social change, and the evolution of journalism. In past and current research, Hans studies how journalism is changing amid the proliferation of globally networked media. Currently, he is working on a project that explores the social aspects of innovation and change in journalism. Since starting at IU in January 2009, Hans has taught a wide range of graduate and undergraduate skills and theory-based courses. In the industry, Hans worked as a general assignment reporter, technology reporter, arts editor, and web editor. Hans served in the Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan from 2003 to 2005.
