Deborah Piston-Hatlen is programs and grants specialist for the Center for the Study of Global Change. Among other projects, she coordinates Framing the Global, a research and publication initiative of the Global Center and Indiana University Press that is funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. She has a licence in sciences du langage from the Université de Besançon and an MA in French linguistics from IU. She is the co-editor of two books, Le français en Amérique du Nord with Albert Valdman and Julie Auger and History, Society and Variation with J. Clancy Clements, Thomas Klingler, and Kevin Rottet. She has also been book review editor for the journal Studies in Second Language Acquisition. She has spent several years living in France, both as a student and a teacher, and has been involved in international education for much of her life. She previously held positions with the Committee for Research and Development in Language Instruction, the Creole Institute, and West European Studies at Indiana University Bloomington.
