Andrew (Andy) Schwartz hails from Adams County in northern Indiana. In 2010, Andy earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry with a minor in Physics from Huntington University. While attending Huntington University, Andy was actively involved in the chemistry department serving as the department’s head laboratory assistant and chemical stockroom manager from January 2007 to May 2010. In addition to working in the department, Andy was also involved in a variety of chemical research projects at Huntington University. Two of the projects were performed under Dr. Ruth Nalliah, which involved fundamental studies of the effects of solvents on CdSe quantum dots and nickel porphyrins. Additionally, in collaboration with Dr. David Bell of the IU School of Medicine, Andy assisted in a research project involving the time dependent stability of anthocyanin molecules in artery ring media.

Andy joined the Hieftje lab in October of 2010. He is currently working on characterizing the fundamental mechanics of the solution cathode glow discharge source.
