Andrew hails from western Pennsylvania. As an undergraduate attending The College of Wooster, he conducted research under Dr. Melissa Schultz developing assays for detection of halogenated herbicides and metabolites in food crops using GC-MS. After graduating from Wooster in 2008, Andrew took a position with ZRT Laboratory and moved to Portland, OR where he worked on hormone assays using LC-MS/MS and immunoassay techniques. Joining the Hieftje lab in 2009, he is currently working on fundamental studies of inductively coupled plasma.
