The Indiana University Art Museum’s commitment to showcasing African American art dates to the 1969 exhibition Four Artists. In this special behind-the-scenes viewing, Nan Brewer, the museum’s Lucienne M. Glaubinger Curator of Works on Paper, will discuss work by two of the artists featured in that seminal exhibition, Richard Hunt and John E. Dowell, Jr., as well as works by Romare Bearden, Sam Gilliam, Eldzier Cortor, Richard Mayhew, Gordon Parks, Lorna Simpson, Carl Pope, Felrath Hines, John Wilson, Adrian Piper, and Bill Traylor.
