The University Graduate School has a new Fellowship Application System. That office will NO LONGER be accepting paper applications for any of the internal awards. At this point in time, the Recruitment Awards aren’t included in the new application process. Nominations for these awards (Scholars, McNair, Herbert) will most likely stay the same. Please plan to attend the Recruitment Fellowships Workshop for details on this process.
Students are required to initiate their own fellowship/award application for the following awards:
- Educational Opportunity Fellowship (EOF)
- Esther L. Kinsley Master’s Thesis Fellowship
- Future Faculty Teaching Fellowship (FFTF)
- Grant-in-Aid of Doctoral Research
- Grant-in-Aid of Master’s of Fine Arts Projects
- Howard University Future Faculty Teaching Fellowships
- Indiana University Credit Union Dissertation Fellowship
- The Wells Graduate Fellowship
Once they have submitted an application, we will forward it to their department for approval. Please inform your students of the new process. Detailed instructions are below. Please let me know if you have any questions.
The student initiates the process by submitting an application for a fellowship through One Start. They access this application through OneStart >> Services >> Student Self-Service >> Services & Information >> Financial >> “Bloomington Graduate Fellowship Application”
The recommenders the student lists on the application will automatically be notified by email telling them that the student has requested they submit a letter of recommendation for them. The next day, the recommenders will receive an email from our office with specific instructions on what the recommender needs to include in their letter. (This is the next day because it takes a day for the data from the app to be accessible in the IUIE)
The University Graduate School will email submitted applications to the graduate secretaries/recorders of the students’ departments.
All nominations (except for FFTF applications), including the departmental nomination letter should be sent to Yvonne Dwigans by email, firstname.lastname@example.org. The nomination must be a single *pdf document.
