Center for the Study of the Middle East GA Positions (2, deadline 6 May 2013)

The Center for the Study of the Middle East (CSME) is seeking two graduate assistant (GA) positions for the 2013-2014 Academic Year. This position is a standard graduate assistantship and applicants should expect to work 20 hours per week at the Center. Both of these positions include fee remission (12 credits Fall/12 credits Spring/6 credit Summer), health insurance, and a stipend. One or both GAs are usually offered an opportunity work as hourly employees in the summer following (Summer 2014) in addition to their Fee Remission. Typically GAs are eligible to continue their assistantship for a second year, though no guarantees are possible.
Applicants must have an academic research interest in the Middle East, and preferably have knowledge of Arabic, but other regional languages are acceptable. These positions require someone who can work with CSME staff and fellow GAs in a team setting, as well as the ability to take charge of projects and work independently. Ideal applicants will be flexible to the needs and demands of a national resource center like CSME.
Applicants should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be willing to perform a wide range of tasks as needed, assisting the center’s directors as directed. The GAs should be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite 2007 and/or 2010, with experience with Adobe Creative Suites CS4 and/or CS5. Successful applicants will be notified in June, 2013 and interviews scheduled soon after. The ideal applicant will be available to schedule an interview in person or via Skype []. Applicants that will be unavailable/abroad during June 2013 are responsible for explaining their situation in their cover letter and working with the Center for an alternative arrangement.
