2018-2019, GPSG Open Staff Positions

Would you like to join the GPSG Executive Committee next year?

Submit your Platform under the Assignment Page labeled “Executive Committee Applications” on the GPSG Canvas by 11:59pm on March 1st. All candidates who submit a platform by the deadline will be asked to give a speech (2-3 mins) followed by Q&A at the March GPSG Assembly (3:30pm March 9th, Woodburn 101). Candidates will be voted on by the current GPSG Assembly.

Below are descriptions of the open positions and compensation structures.

Open Elected Positions:

President:The President serves as the official representative of the graduate and professional student body to the University at large. The President is also responsible for overseeing all administrative aspects of GPSG, while chairing the GPSG Executive Committee and Assembly.  This position is compensated as a Student Academic Appointment. Vice President: The Vice President fulfills the duties of the President when they are temporarily unable to perform them and to ensure the Constitution and Bylaws are followed. It is also the Vice President’s duty to conduct the annual Assembly Audit and promote representative engagement. This position is compensation with a $1,000 fellowship. Treasurer: The Treasurer prepares the annual budget and financial updates for review, maintains GPSG’s financial records, requests disbursement of funds, works with University Graduate School Director of Finance, and ensures the timely distribution of GPSG Awards. The Treasurer will also be responsible for writing and presenting GPSG’s funding request for the upcoming biennium. This position is compensated with a $1,000 fellowship. Open Staff Positions:

Communications Coordinator: The Communications Coordinator oversees all official communication between GPSG, IU departments and schools, and news agencies. This staff member manages GPSG’s social media, web presence, and Canvas page and is responsible for GPSG marketing campaigns in partnership with the Community Development Coordinator. This position is compensated as a Student Academic Appointment. Additional information, including the Application can be found here.​

Open Appointed Positions:

Awards Officer: The Awards Officer leads GPSG’s efforts related to the promotion and granting of GPSG’s monetary and non-monetary awards. This officer serves as the chair the Awards Committee, which reviews the nominations and applications for GPSG’s awards. This position is compensation with a $1,000 fellowship. Benefits Officer:  The Benefits Officer leads GPSG’s efforts related to promoting and advocating for benefits and services offered to graduate and professional students and Student Academic Appointees. This Officer serves as the chair of the GPSG Benefits Committee, which focuses on issues related to student services, health insurance, stipends, fee remission, and related employment. Diversity Officer: The Diversity Officer leads GPSG’s efforts related to fostering diverse and inclusive campus environment for graduate and professional students. This Officer serves as the chair of the Diversity Committee, which focuses on promoting diversity and inclusion and supporting traditionally-underrepresented student populations on campus. Health & Wellness Officer: The Health & Wellness Officer leads GPSG’s efforts related to all aspects of health and wellness of graduate and professional students at IU. This officer serves as the chair of the Health & Wellness Committee, which addresses issues related to students’ physical health, mental well-being, and safety on campus and in Bloomington. This position is compensation with a $1,000 fellowship. Additional information, including the Application can be found here.

Sustainability Officer:  The Sustainability Officer leads GPSG’s efforts related to sustainability within the GPSG and campus communities. This officer serves as the chair the Sustainability Committee, which addresses issues related to sustainability such as recycling, carbon emissions, transportation, and sustainable growth.
