Indiana University Office of Sustainability is piloting a new grant-funded workforce and career development program for current and future Indiana sustainability professionals. We seek an IU graduate student to become the Outreach Coordinator (OC), who will work with the IU Office of Sustainability and the University Director of Sustainability to coordinate an outreach program to Indiana nonprofit, corporate, government and higher education partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
OC will have the opportunity to build relationships with non-profits, state and municipal governments and industry contact and lead development of a first-of-it’s kind IU program on sustainability workforce development. OC will interview sustainability professionals across the state to identify workforce needs, desired competencies in college graduates, and potential placements for interns and graduates. OC will maintain network of contacts, schedule meetings, take minutes, conduct interviews and surveys, and assess and analyze information. OC will also assist with the design and implementation of an intensive training session for potential interns. OC will maintain communications with placed interns and their employers and assist in evaluation of the pilot program. OC will develop promotional materials, draft press releases, maintain web site content and network database, and assist with drafting project reports.

Qualifications, Education:
Applicants should be able to demonstrate skills, education and experience in planning and organizing, independent and collaborative work, interviewing, surveying, assessment, writing and other communications, and public speaking. OC must have excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Applicants should have a broad understanding of sustainability concepts.

Ideal candidate will be available the rest of the Spring semester, Summer, and Fall 2017. Work can begin as soon as the hiring process is completed. Average 10-20 hours per week.

Most of the work will be performed on the IU Bloomington campus but some in state travel may be required and a driver’s license is desired. Vehicle not required.

IU graduate student majoring in a related field.

$16 per hour
