Call for Applications: (IUB) Graduate Mentorship Opportunity for IU Undergraduate Research (12/14 deadline)

IU Undergraduate Research (IUUR) is currently recruiting graduate students to mentor undergraduate scholars as part of the Research Scholars Apprenticeship program. This is a great opportunity for you to 1) demonstrate your commitment to mentorship & inclusivity in higher education, 2) receive research assistance on your dissertation, and 3) receive up to $500 in research cost assistance!

IU Undergraduate Research is currently recruiting fifteen (15) graduate students for Spring 2019 to mentor students in the following majors: ¬ Chemistry, Human Biology, Biochemistry, International Studies, Sociology, Neuroscience\Psychology, Arts Management, Economic Consulting & Public Policy Analysis. Graduate student in these or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Mentors will involve a sophomore or junior Research Scholar in their dissertation project. This will involve familiarizing the student with your topic and having them contribute in appropriate ways. The goal for mentors is to build a mutually supportive relationship with the mentee, helping them to understand what it means to conduct academic research and create knowledge.

We estimate that apprentices will be able to contribute to your dissertation project approximately 5 hours per week. The apprenticeship will begin Spring 2019, with the possibility of continuing into Fall 2019.

Qualifications:
– Must be a PhD candidate that is ABD.
– Committed to mentorship and inclusivity in higher education.
– Prepared to mentor an undergraduate researcher in one of the following majors: Chemistry, Human Biology, Biochemistry, International Studies, Sociology, Neuroscience, Psychology, Arts Management, Economic Consulting & Public Policy Analysis. Graduate students in related fields are encouraged to apply.
