Position Description: Assist the Scholarly Communication department with processing faculty-authored articles subject to Indiana University Bloomington’s Open Access Policy. This position will focus on data entry, ensuring that records are accurate and complete.  Specific duties include:


  • Learning and using a Scholarly Communication Department application to enhance metadata for article records
  • Communicating with faculty about making their work open access
  • Collaborating with staff and other students to improve and edit existing documentation related to the Open Access Policy
  • Performing basic assessment to better understand the impact of the Open Access Policy on the availability of IU faculty-authored work


NOTE: This position is a temporary position focused on a single, in-depth project. The position will conclude by the end of June 2019.


Qualifications: Required: Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Currently enrolled as an IU student with plans to take at least 2 (if a graduate student) or 3 (if an undergraduate student) credit hours in Summer 2019.


Preferred: Experience with managing projects and creating documentation. Some interest or working knowledge in scholarly communication issues, open access, and copyright preferred but not necessary.


Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at a computer screen for long periods of time.
