Making American Music Internship at the National Museum of American History (3/8 deadline)

“Making American Music” at the National Museum of American History (NMAH) is a new initiative designed to revolutionize the museum’s exploration of the impact of music in American history.  The initiative features a ten-week internship with a Smithsonian artist in residence.  The artist will guide interns and visitors in investigating the diverse origins, traditions, and ideas that make up American music. Interns must be musically skilled. Throughout the internship they will perform and interpret music in the NMAH galleries and public spaces, will feature in videos, and will produce blog posts and additional content on Smithsonian websites and online platforms.  The museum staff will train the interns in how to conduct research on music in the museum’s collections and the artist in residence will perform with interns, share expertise, and introduce them to the work of professional musicians.
