Welcome to Indiana University's
Green Room Certification Program

If you are a campus-dwelling IU student who cares about being eco-friendly, except you aren't really sure how to adopt a more environmentally conscious lifestyle while still living on campus... you've come to the right place!

Get ready for the first ever Greenest Floor Challenge coming to you this fall! This semester (fall, 2012), in concurrence with the IU Energy Challenge, the Green Room Certification Program (GRCP) will run a floor-by-floor competition rewarding the floor in each residence center on campus that Green Certifies the highest percentage of rooms through the GRCP over a three-week period (October 22 through November 12). Each student who Green Certifies their room during the competition will receive a reusable, BPA-free water bottle courtesy of the Student Sustainability Council (SSC), and a GRCP certificate to put on their door. The winning floor in each residence center will receive a floor-wide pizza party!

Get Your Room Green Certified Today!

The Green Room Certification Program (GRCP) was piloted at IU Bloomington in 2011 through a collaborative partnership between Residential Programs and Services (RPS), the Residence Hall Association (RHA), and the Office of Sustainability (IUOS).

The GRCP aims to support and celebrate every campus-dwelling student who strives to live more sustainably by adopting sustainable habits and choosing to use eco-friendly products. The option to Green Certify your room is available to each and every student who is currently living in any of the IUB residence halls.

The ready-made GRCP checklist is comprised of 48 criteria that are separated into eight distinct categories. In order to get your room Green Certified, you must meet at least 20 of the 48 criteria on the checklist. If you meet or exceed 20 of the criteria, all you have to do is press submit and you will be well on your way towards Green Room Certification!
