How much do I have to pay?
Each rider must pay a $40 registration fee if they are riding both days (starting at Memorial Stadium and ending at Ross-Ade Stadium). Riders meeting in Crawfordsville and only riding on Saturday must pay a $30 registration fee. This registration fee covers SAG support, overnight stay, dinner, breakfast, insurance, and the long sleeved event shirt.
What if I cannot raise $50 in donations?
The $50 minimum donation fee is the ‘suggested’ amount. Remember, this is a fundraiser and even though we are trying to raise as much money as possible, you can still participate in the ride if you are only able to get $15 dollars in donations. Just keep in mind that every dollar helps!
Can I leave my car at the stadium throughout the event until I return to Bloomington on Saturday?
Yes. We will have a marked parking area in which you may leave your vehicles. This will not be a problem especially since the football game is at Purdue and the parking lot will be empty.
How am I getting back to Bloomington after the ride on Saturday?
IU Habitat has contracted Bloomington Shuttle to transport all riders and their personal belongings from West Lafayette back to Bloomington. This shuttle will be scheduled at a set time and if you choose to attend the football game, you will be responsible for your own transportation back to Bloomington. Departure time for the Bloomington Shuttle is yet to be determined.
How is my bike getting back to Bloomington after the ride on Saturday?
Several companies have offered the use of their moving trucks for the event. IU Habitat organizers will CAREFULLY load the bicycles in the moving trucks in pairs of twos. Two bicycles will be place side-by-side, facing opposite directions, and will be covered with padded moving blankets.
What can I expect on the day of the ride?
There will be a registration headquarters in a nearby church (location TBA) where riders may turn in their registration forms, fees, and donations to IU Habitat organizers. At this registration headquarters, there will be free breakfast supplied to all riders, organizers, and volunteers. Once you have registered and received your free event shirt, you may browse local businesses/vendors that will be set up for display. Some businesses will also possibly be offering discounted services for last-minute equipment malfunctions/issues. The send-off will take place in the west side of the stadium parking lot where there will be a full-sized hot air balloon set up. This hot air balloon is to attract attention and mark the start of the ride. At 9:30am, riders will be asked to go to the starting point where there will be several speakers and announcements and at 10am, the ride will officially start with the firing of the ROTC cannons.
Can I turn in my registration form and fees/donations before the day of the ride?
Yes. There will be a pre-registration opportunity on Thursday night, November 16, 2006 from 5-9pm in the nearby church (location TBA). Here, you can turn in all registration forms, fees, and donations. Vendors will also be set up during this time to offer their services. This pre-registration opportunity allows riders optimal convenience on the day of the ride to concentrate on the 84 trek to Crawfordsville.
Will I be able to shower at the overnight stop?
Yes. The overnight stop will be at a local church in Crawfordsville and there are available showers.
When is dinner/breakfast at the overnight stop?
Dinner will be served from 6-7pm at the overnight stop in Crawfordsville. Breakfast will be served from 7-8am on Saturday morning. The Saturday morning send-off is scheduled to take place following breakfast at 8am.
