Documentary Proposed

WTIU Television has proposed a major television documentary of the 7 th USA International Harp Competition. If fully funded, the two hour documentary will follow several of the most promising young players in the world as they prepare in their home countries, travel to Bloomington, Indiana, and perform in various stages of the Competition. It will capture the tension and excitement of competition from behind the scenes. Interviews with judges, performers and event organizers will provide insights into what makes a world class competitor. The documentary will show the craftsmanship required to build these complex and beautiful instruments and the remarkable training which is required to play them. The program will be broadcast on 375 public television stations with an estimated viewing audience of over 3 million people. Subsequent airings and the release of an extended DVDs will bring the beauty of the harp and excitement of elite competition to an even wider audience.
