Faculty and Staff Consultation
In a crisis situation between 8 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday, call 812 855-5711.

Recognizing that we are most effective in helping our students thrive in our complex university environment when we work as a team, CAPS offers a number of consultation and outreach services to the IUB campus. We have intensified all of these efforts as we recognize that more students are coming to our nation’s campuses with greater levels of distress, sometimes with greater need for support.
Phone consultation services – weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. a CAPS staff member is available to consult with any IUB faculty, staff, student or family member concerned about the behavior or problems that a student is manifesting. In cases of extreme emergency our psychiatrists can assist with hospitalization. While confidentiality is maintained by CAPS, the person calling often can share information that is useful as we work together to assist students. 812 855-5711.

Dean of Student’s Case Conferences – Under the direction of the IUB Dean of Students, IU has a 20 year tradition of Case Conferences to assist an academic department, other academic unit or staff group with coping with what have been termed “distressed and/or distressing” students. CAPS staff and a number of relevant campus groups are represented in these Case Conferences, convened by the Dean, that can assist in the mapping out of helpful courses of action.
