Eye Clinic

The IUHC Eye Clinic is available 4 half-days per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. It is staffed by a residency trained optometrist who may be assisted by residents and 4th year optometry interns. They provide assessment and management of acute eye problems including contact lens-related red eyes, all types of conjunctivitis (pink-eye), styes, dry eye problems, allergies and injuries. Exams of the retina can be done to monitor the effects of trauma or systemic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and rheumatologic disorders. Services are available by appointment and there are some walk-in times available.

This clinic does not handle routine eye examinations and cannot prescribe glasses or contact lenses. These services are available through the School of Optometry in either of their two Bloomington clinics; the Atwater Eye care Center on campus and the Community Eye Care Center on the west side of Bloomington.

When the Health Center is closed eye emergencies are referred to an after-hours service provided by the School of Optometry. This service is available to anyone whether or not they are associated with the university. Instructions on how to access this service follow.

The IU School of Optometry has an Optometrist on call for eye emergencies.
