In the spirit of the program mission, all scholars are assigned a program advisor and must attend mandatory meetings each semester. These sessions include but are not limited to:
- Assessment of student academic and social progress
- Clarifying of HHSP and/or university policies and procedures
- Career visioning and exploration
- Referral to campus resources
It is the responsibility of the student to schedule required semester appointments in a timely and acceptable fashion. Every advisor has a different preferred method for scheduling appointments so students should check with their assigned program advisor for the best way to set up a meeting.
A scholar's cohort determines the number of required HHSP advising session per semester and is illustrated in the table below. Once admitted to their major department/school, scholars will meet with their departmental advisor as well.
|Freshman||2 advising sessions per semester|
|Sophomore||2 advising session per semester|
|Junior||1 advising session per semester|
|Senior||1 advising session per semester|
Scholars on academic Probation 1 or 2 may be required to attend additional program advising sessions, as well as other support programs and tutorials toward GPA recovery. See the HHSP Academic Policy for more information.
