My honors project is based on the concept of ego depletion. Specifically it seeks to answer the following question: Is it our perceptions of, or our actual levels of, our self-control resource that are taken into account when we decide whether or not to conserve this resource for future tasks? The findings of this study will be interesting because they will shed light on how we actually allocate our resources. Is perceiving depletion enough to make us conserve? In other words, is it mind or matter that affects our self-control?
