The HGSA will become vital in your progression toward your goals.

The HGSA Officers are your elected representatives working hard to improve the graduate experience in the history department. All history graduate students are members of the HGSA and they will be work beside you for the next few years.

The always-friendly staff of the history department are ready to answer any questions you might have about your degree progression or any concerns you might have about your time at IU.

Contacting Other History Students
The most natural environment for building relationships with other students is the classroom, followed by the conference hall. You can look forward to showcasing your work and appreciating that of your colleagues at IU’s own Paul Lucas Conference, or at any of the numerous Academic Conferences held around the country.

However, there is more to your academic and future professional career than maintaining critical discourse and discussing readings with your classmates and professors. The HGSA is committed to filling your already busy schedule with opportunities to socialize, both with your cohort and veteran members of the department. The Winter Soiree is the largest of these events, but do not underestimate the usefulness of the HGSA Facebook Group for organizing your own shindig.
