Early American Field Gathers Strength

In Fall 2006, Kirsten Sword joins Konstantin Dierks and Sarah Knott in the early American field. All three scholars are concerned to situate early America in the wider world. Sword's latest research traces the thoroughly Atlantic story of the founding of the first American antislavery society. Dierks interrogates the cultural, social, economic, and political history of letter writing in the eighteenth century, and Knott frames the revolutionary history of sensibility as a chapter in the longer history of Western selfhood.
