I am a senior majoring in history with a minor in political science. I feel lucky to have come back to college after taking a few years away from school for many reasons, one of which is I would have never thought to pursue history as a major. I have now chosen it because, as cliché as it is, I have found that understanding history is so important for understanding my world today and understanding potential future pitfalls and successes. I also hope to use my history and political science backgrounds to pursue law school and specifically, environmental law.
I plan on using what I've learned to travel as well. I really want to travel to Africa, and while I realize it's a huge continent, I'll go any place I'm able to make it. I would like to use what I've learned about African politics and history to teach sustainable agriculture or perhaps work with HIV/AIDS programs. History has opened me to worlds far beyond my own, and I look forward to continuing learning about them and traveling to them as well.
