Prof. Ronald Hites among the most cited for research on PBDEs

The Environmental Science Indicator ranked Prof Hites at #9 for research on PBDEs, with 15 papers cited a total of 496 times. In the In Essential Science Indicators, his work includes 88 papers, mostly classified in Environment & Ecology, with a total of 2,143 cites to date. In the News: the tree barks' study!

One of the latest articles published by our lab reported measurements of Dechlora Plus, a widely used flame retardant in tree barks collected in Borth America. You can find the article here.

The study was featured in Environmental Science & Technology. It was also cited on Science Daily, and on Tree Hugger website. The local newspaper, the Herald Times, published an article on this study on the 12/20/07.

In the News: the cats' story!

The study on PBDEs in cat serum attracted a lot of attention from the media. In collaboration with Dr. Janice Dye and Linda Birnbaum, among the other co-authors, PBDEs were measured in cats' serum samples, as well as in common cat food samples.

The article first appeared on the Science News section on Environmental Science & Technology on August 15th. It then garnered media attention: you can see the artcile on the Chicago Tribune, the New York Times, the Seattle Times, the Los Angeles Times, Forbes, MSNBC, the Bloomington's Herald Times.
