Ways to Become a HPER Major

Students enter the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation in a number of different ways:

  • Admitted undergraduate freshmen with excellent entrance test scores and high school rank may be directly admitted upon invitation to all School of HPER major programs except athletic training.
  • Admitted undergraduate transfer students with sophomore standing may enter all School of HPER major programs that do not require a competitive application process.
  • All other admitted undergraduate freshmen and transfer students spend the first year in the University Division while preparing for certification into a HPER major. During the sophomore year, students pursuing majors with competitive admission standards will apply for admission to those majors. Students who meet admission standards for all other majors can automatically certify into those majors.
  • Graduate applicants must apply for admission to a specific graduate degree program in HPER.
