The Indiana University School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) Department of Applied Health Science and their Center for Minority Health proudly presents an event in conjunction with the Boston Women’s Health Book Collective (BWHBC) and Bloomington Area Birth Services (BABS) at the Monroe County Public Library on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 6:00pm. The BWHBC is best known for the classic women’s health book Our Bodies, Ourselves. This event will provide an opportunity for the BWHBC to present their new publication Our Bodies, Ourselves: Pregnancy and Birth and draw attention to maternal care issues for minority women. Our Bodies, Ourselves: Pregnancy and Birth explores a range of topics - from hospital to home births – to inspire women to feel more confident and comfortable about approaching motherhood.
Judy Norsigian, BWHBC executive director and founder, and co-author of the publication, will be participating in an informal reception and panel discussion at the Monroe County Public Library beginning at 6:00pm. Joining Norsigian in the panel discussion will be planning committee members Cecilia Obeng, LaDonna BlueEye, Leila Dabbagh, and Zobeida Bonilla of the School of HPER, and Georg’ann Cattelona from BABS.
The Center for Sexual Health Promotion and the Kinsey Institute are cosponsoring the event.
This event is free and open to the public.
