Benefits of the Award
Hoosier Presidential Scholars Study Abroad Award Policy
Hoosier Presidential Scholars can use the study abroad award ($1,000) upon reaching junior class standing (56 credit hours). The study abroad award can be used for any study abroad program offered for direct credit through Indiana University and approved through the Office of Overseas Study (OVST).
For a complete listing of the study abroad programs available through Indiana University go to: www.indiana.edu/~overseas/programs/biglist.shtml
Other overseas study abroad experiences that fall outside those administered or co-sponsored by Indiana University may be eligible for the study abroad award but will be reviewed by the Hoosier Presidential Scholars university-wide committee on a case-by-case basis.
Scholars should follow OVST instructions for non-IU programs. See: www.indiana.edu/~overseas/programs/noniu.shtml. These instructions will provide guidelines on how/when to register for a non-IU program through the IU system so that the award flows into the bursar system and participation in a program is duly noted.
For information on other financial aid for study abroad, see: www.indiana.edu/~overseas/basics/finaid.shtml
A completed Study Abroad Agreement Form for Herbert Presidential Scholars must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs in order to grant study-abroad funding.
