The Modernist Exchange

The Modernist Exchange is a new campus-wide group dedicated to exploring modem thought and culture in an international and interdisciplinary frame. We are particularly interested in translations, transplantations, appropriations, and exchanges between the arts, national and ethnic cultures, academic disciplines, genres, and media from ca.1880-1945.

We hope to attract a diversity of scholars and methods, including literary studies, art history, film, philosophy, history, cultural studies, and the sciences. We plan to meet once a month to consider works in progress, discuss related primary sources, and debate current directions in scholarship. If you plan to attend or need additional information, please contact Edward Comentale (ecomenta@indiana.edu) or Christopher Bush (chbush@indiana.edu).
