Glimpses into Finland's World-Class Education System

Sanna Leinonen is an experienced teacher, trainer, lecturer and textbook-writer from Finland. She has a long career as an EFL/ESL and entrepreneurship teacher and institutional coach. She has worked on the National Core Curriculum for Finnish schools with the Finnish National Agency for Education and she works with international groups of educators visiting Finland.

Finish Movie Night- Jadesoturi (Jade Warrior)

Time for the second Finnish movie night of the semester – a fantasy movie in which Kalevala meets kung fu! Jadesoturi (Jade Warrior, 2006) is a Finnish-Chinese collaboration and it is set in these two different countries combining elements of Finnish Kalevala and Chinese Wuxia tradition. The movie is directed by Antti-Jussi Annila and it is the first Finnish movie that has ever been screened in cinemas in China.

We will watch an acclaimed document Metsän tarina about the diverse life of Finnish forest and its inhabitants.

Leading roles will be played by (among other):

The Owl

The movie will be shown in Fine Arts 010 on Monday, January 23rd at 6pm. It is in Finnish with English subtitles (and great music).

Finnish Movie Night on November 28th: Rare Exports

Back by popular demand: The last movie night of the semester is Rare Exports, a dark holiday comedy, in which you have to “forget everything you know about Santa”. The movie will be screened already on Monday, November 28th so it won’t overlap with Finnish Culture Night which takes place on Monday, December 5th at 6 pm in the IMU Faculty Room.
