Description: The Inner Asian and Uralic National Resource Center is presenting a Kazakh film series. The second film is "Келін" (Daughter-in-law), showing at Wylie Hall 005 at 7:00pm.
Director: Yerkmek Tursynov, 2009
Synopsis: Pre-historical drama set in the 2nd century AD in northeastern Kazakhstan. Breathtaking cinematography showcases the harsh winter landscapes of northeastern Kazakhstan, and period musical pieces offer a stunning soundtrack. There are some aspects of steppe culture that still remain today, though this film does not claim to be an historical documentary. Not suitable for young children – some bloody violence, in addition to sexual material.
The film has no dialogue.
