Turkey and Its Foreign Policy in a Changing World

Over 50 Indiana University students and faculty attended a talk by the Consul General of Turkey in Chicago, Fatih Yildiz, entitled “Turkey and Its Foreign Policy in a Changing World" on Thursday, September at 4 p.m.

The Consul General was introduced by the Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences Jean C. Robinson, who emphasized the importance of IU’s unique and long lived Central Eurasian Studies Department, and the Director of Indiana University’s Turkish Language Flagship Center, Professor Kemal Silay. Fatih Yildiz spoke about Turkey’s foreign policy, particularly their relationship with their neighbors. After his talk, the Consul General engaged in a question and answer session with the audience, and answered questions on controversial topics such as Turkey’s future with the EU, Turkey’s current and historical relationship with Israel, and the situation in Syria.
