First Meeting of the Iranian Studies Graduate Student Workshop

Wed, Oct 12, 12:00 pm
GA 3015

This initiative provides an interdisciplinary forum for all students working in the field of Iranian Studies to present papers, dissertation chapters or any other works in progress to faculty and fellow students. The workshop format will allow for students to engage in discussion and receive constructive feedback on their works in progress, while its interdisciplinary nature will offer a broad range of perspectives through which their writings may be understood and critiqued.

Each session, one student will give a presentation of their research or specific project. This will be followed by a brief commentary by a discussant of their choosing, either a faculty member or fellow student, who will have read the work prior to the workshop. From there we will open up for a general discussion.

The Iranian Studies Workshop is sponsored by the Islamic Studies Program with the support of the Central Eurasian Studies Department. The first workshop will meet on Wednesday, October 12th at 12pm in GA 3015 with Keith Wilson as our first presenter.

Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Islamic Studies program. If you are interested in presenting a paper, participating as a discussant or just attending the workshop and joining in the discussion please send an email to Prof. Seema Golestaneh ( or to the Islamic Studies Program ( Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
