Teresa Nichols "Looking (not very far) back: Thoughts on finishing the PhD" Brown Bag

Wed, Feb 11, 12:00 pm
Hoosier Room, IMU

Dr. Teresa Nichols, a post-doctoral fellow in the Anthropology Department,  will be giving a talk entitled "Looking (not very far) back: Thoughts on finishing the PhD" on Wedensday, February 11th at noon in the Hoosier Room, IMU.

"In February last year, I was a GA at the IAUNRC with maybe 30 pages of my dissertation written.  Today, I have written, defended, revised, and deposited my dissertation and started a postdoctoral fellowship. How did I do it? How could you do it, and do so even more successfully? This talk will be an informal reflection on how I could have improved my fieldwork, my data analysis, my write-up, and my (minimal) attempts at publishing.  This talk is designed to encourage students who are working on their research design and to assure ABDs that someday your dissertation does get finished."

This is a talk in the new Graduate Student Brown Bag Talks, designed to allow students to share their research, work, experiences and goals with their peers.
