IAUNRC Spring/Summer 2011 Newsletter Now Available
The IAUNRC is happy to announce the release of its Spring/Summer 2011 Newsletter. In this issue, we remember Professor Denis Sinor, a titan in the field of Central Eurasian studies and a beloved member of the IU academic community who passed away on January 12, 2011. This issue also covers IU's celebration of the 93rd anniversary of Estonia's independence. Bloomington was honored to host Väino Reinart, Ambassador of Estonia in the United States, who joined the festivities and gave a talk on Estonia's role in the European Union. IAUNRC Director Edward Lazzerini also reports on exciting progress made on the Volga-Kama Initiative, a joint effort carried out by the IAUNRC and two other IU Title VI centers to partner with academic institutions in the Volga River Valley to promote the study of the region. Kathryn Derloshon shares some observations on her experience teaching in Turkey through the School of Education's Cultural Immersions Program, and Teresa Nichols writes on her time doing research in Mongolia.
