Deadline for Applications: January 31, 2017

The Josephine De Karman Fellowship Trust was established in 1954 by the late Dr. Theodore Von Karman, world renowned aeronautics expert and teacher and first director of the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, in memory of his sister, Josephine, who passed away in 1951. The purpose of this Fellowship program is to recognize and assist students whose scholastic achievements reflect Professor Von Karman’s high standards.

Application Deadline: January 27, 2017

The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a grant offered by the Embassy of France in the United States. It supports outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for a period ranging from 4 to 9 months. Chateaubriand fellows are selected through a merit-based competition, through a collaborative process involving expert evaluators in both countries.

The John H. Edwards Trust Fund will provide income for 3 fellowships of approximately $20,000 each for graduate students at Indiana University in academic year 2013-2014. The John H. Edwards Fellowship is one of the University’s most prestigious academic awards. A university-wide committee selects the fellows from nominations made by the deans of all departments and professional schools within the University that award terminal graduate degrees.

2017 Annual Meeting of The Mongolia Society in Bloomington, Indiana

The 2017 Annual Meeting of The Mongolia Society will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017, on the Indiana University Bloomington campus, when we meet in conjunction with ACES (Association for Central Eurasian Students).

The Russian Studies Workshop (RSW) at Indiana University (IU) is offering $6500 to cover tuition/mandatory fees (approximately $3000), and living costs to eligible students who enroll in a 6-credit graduate Russian course in the IU Summer Language Workshop (SLW) during the Summer 2017 session.

Eligibility: Students who: 1) are entering a PhD program in a social science discipline at a US university in Fall 2017; and 2) intend to study Russian at any level in SLW from June 5 to July 28, 2017.

Deadline for submission for all materials: March 15, 2017

The conference will be held on Friday, February 3rd, 2017 from 8:30am - 5:00pm.

The Center for the Study of Global Change is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for the 2017 David E. Albright Memorial Scholarship. One $1000 award is available for an SGIS undergraduate student with a demonstrated record of international passion and commitment eligible to graduate in May/August 2018.

The Conversation Partners Program provides opportunities for students to meet one-on-one, once a week, in an informal setting . It can be a great way to share first languages, practice a new language, and make friends!

Have you designed a multidisciplinary course that doesn't quite fit into your department's curriculum?

Collins Living-­‐Learning Center invites advanced graduate students in the College of Arts and Sciences with teaching experience to submit course proposals each semester for the following year. Collins courses carry university credit and most are open to all IU undergraduates.

The Central Eurasian Studies Summer Institute (CESSI) is currently accepting applications for intensive study of Kazakh, Tajik, Uyghur, and Uzbek. Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant Spotlight
Alisher Khamidov

On September 1, 2017, the IAUNRC sat down to speak with Alisher, the 2017-2018 FLTA from Uzbekistan. Alisher will assist Dr. Hodjaev with teaching Uzbek language classes for the 2017-2018 Academic Year. These classes are offered through the Department of Central Eurasian Studies.
