The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures is excited to announce that Professor Asaad Al-Saleh will be offering a course on The Arabian Nights (NELC-N 305/695) during the 2nd 8 weeks of the fall semester. Registration is still open for what will be an exciting course in literature, history, and culture!

Explore The Arabian Nights, and encounter one of history's most popular and powerful stories. Transmitted from oral narrative to written texts in various versions and languages, these fanciful stories have impacted cultural consciousness. This course examines the stories' historical and cultural context and the value of storytelling. Come join the stories' narrator, Shahrazad, in her fictional adventures to different worlds, cultures, and literary genres.

Taught in English with no Arabic language required.
