Charlie Nelms Alumni Award

IU alumnus Charlie Nelms served the university for more than 20 years—most recently as vice president for institutional development and student affairs—before becoming chancellor of North Carolina Central University in 2007. Among the initiatives he led at IU were efforts to improve diversity, equity, and academic support services.

The Charlie Nelms Alumni Award honors his leadership, vision, and commitment to achieving equality in all areas of life for disenfranchised and underserved people.

The award is given to an IU graduate who has worked diligently to affect a positive change in his or her workplace, community, and/or Indiana University.
