Downloading and installing the template files

  1. Download the zip archive, which contains all the template files, to your desktop
  2. Right-click the zip archive and select "Open With --> Compressed (zipped) Folders" from the context menu:
  3. Copy and paste the "courseSite" folder to somewhere suitable on your hard drive:
  4. Rename the "courseSite" folder to something more meaningful (e.g. "P205"). The name you give the folder should not contain any spaces, but underscores are OK.
  5. Launch Dreamweaver MX
  6. From the Site menu, select "Edit Sites":
  7. Click "New..."
  8. In the "Site name" field, enter an appropriate name for your site (e.g. "P205")
  9. Click the folder icon () to the right of the "Local root folder" field and browse your way to the folder containing the site files. Click the "Select" button once you've found it.
  10. Click the "Remote Info" option in the left-side menu
  11. From the "Access" drop-down menu, select FTP
  12. In the "FTP Host" field, enter veritas.ucs.indiana.edu
  13. In the "Host Directory" field, enter www
  14. In the "Login" and "Password" fields, enter the username and password for your Veritas account
  15. Click OK

You should now be able to customize the site's pages for your own needs.

Uploading files to your account

  1. To connect to the server, click the "connect" icon on the right side of your screen:
  2. Once you are connected, click the "expand/collapse" icon on the right side of your screen: This will display two panes. The right pane represents your local files and the left pane represents the files on the server.
  3. To upload a file, click it and drag it from the right pane to the left pane and let go of the mouse button.
