|The most common type of course evaluation is submitted anonymously by students at the end of the course and before they get their final grade. Students evaluate the quality of the course and the instructor's performance mostly through Likert scale items (which responses go from "Strongly Agree" to "Strongly Disagree") and a few open ended questions.
The IU School of Education uses an online course evaluation system called CourseEval. The items included in the evaluation are selected by your department. Most of these items are selected from the IU Multi-OP system. You can request adding new items that might be more specific or relevant to an activity or project your students conducted and you would like to get anonymous feedback about.
Another way to evaluate online courses is through the extent the course met Chickering and Gamson's Seven Principles for good practice in higher education.
