Syllabus Workshop 2003
Purpose:
The purpose of this workshop is to help university instructors prepare a pedagogically sound, informative, and complete syllabus.
Goals and Objectives:
- Provide a “map” of your course for students
- Articulate specific aims and objectives for the course
- Identify the relationship between course objectives, course content, and course activities
- Serve as an advance organizer for course sequencing
- Communicate contact information
- Identify resources for your course
- List rules and policies for your course
- Provide important deadline dates for major course assignments and activities
- Provide an archive of your course for portfolio purposes
- Serve as a contract between you and your students
