Distance Education Forum: Time Management for Online Instructors
The Office of Instructional Consulting continues its series of forums on distance education and online learning with a session on time management for online instruction. Teaching online, especially for the first time, is wrought with many challenges. In particular, the modes of interaction are different than in a face2face class, and can become considerably more time consuming without some structure and design.
This session focuses on aspects of time management for online instruction including: contemporary pressures on faculty time, spending your time most efficiently, and effective communicative practices in an online environment. The session will provide discussion of best practices, provide examples, and answer questions from the audience. Karen Hallett-Rupp, Director of the Office of Instructional Consulting, will lead the session. Participants will leave with a better sense of the time it takes to teach online and with tips and best practices for effectively managing their own time in an online course.
